New Rapid Bay Jetty

The project involved the design and construction of a new recreational jetty at Rapid Bay on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Closed in 2004 due to structural concerns, the existing jetty at Rapid Bay provides one of the state’s premier scuba diving and fishing sites. The new jetty will provide a jump off point for scuba diving and access to the deeper water for fishermen as well as giving a much needed boost to the area’s tourism.

Key features include:
Placement and removal of a temporary groyne used as a working platform.
Underwater excavation through rock using an excavator mounted hydraulic hammer.
Pile driving from floating plant.
The construction of the steel frame superstructure with precast concrete decking slabs.
