This intersection upgrades included the construction of new granular pavements along the current South Road alignment to accommodate the addition of traffic lanes at the intersection. Ashwin Parade also underwent widening, with the existing portion of the road being profiled and completed with asphalt overlay. The project involves extensive traffic management and due to traffic restrictions is also going to involve night works.
This intersection upgrade was the first instalment in the $1.5 billion
upgrade to the North-South corridor, which overall is aiming to reduce
congestion, boost freight efficiency and ultimately drive economic growth.
