Richmond & James Congdon Drive Upgrade
The Richmond Road / James Congdon Drive / South Road Capacity Upgrade project is the second package released by the Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure aimed at assisting with traffic flows during construction of the Torrens to Torrens Project. It involved the widening of South Road at the intersection with James Congdon Drive and Richmond Road which included earthworks, precast drainage installation, granular pavement works, bituminous / asphalt works, lighting installation, upgrade existing signal infrastructure, road furniture and detailed traffic management. Richmond Road was also to upgraded including the construction of an additional east bound lane between South Road and Railway Terrace including the widening of the existing bridge structure over Keswick Creek. James Congdon Drive was also upgraded with the construction of an additional lanes both east and west bound with the subsequent bridge widening over Keswick Creek. Due to the works being undertaken along a major roadway and adjacent a live waterway, extensive traffic management and environmental controls were implemented to ensure a safe and effective work site. Works were scheduled to be predominantly undertaken at night to maintain traffic flows during peak periods with a key focus on the management of works around the numerous existing live services.

Removal and reinstatement of existing pavements with new asphalt and linemarking
Upgrades to stormwater drainage systems and kerbing
Upgrades to Traffic Signals and Road Lighting Infrastructure
